Otocast, a platform for mobile audio guides to points of interest, sought to build a mobile app to allow for various tours from multiple locations to co-exist within a single application.


Mission Data developed mobile apps for iOS and Android that currently feature more than 220 audio guides in over 125 cities around the world, with information for over 3,600 points of interest. The guides have expanded across the US and Eastern Canada, as well as in Europe.

The majority of the guides are public art-related, but also included are historic locations, public parks, and general interest locations. Audio commentary is provided by a ”voice-of-authority”, intimately familiar with the point of interest, such as the artist, curator, architect, or local historian.

Version 2.0 features refreshed UI, improvements in search, the ability to double tap a point of interest thumbnail to bring up additional details and images, and the ability to engage users by rewarding visits to specified points-of-interest.


The Otocast app has had more than 1.3 million user interactions and 81,000 user interactions (75% Apple / 25% Android).
