CQ, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Economist Group with the largest press corps on Capitol Hill and the leading provider of congressional news, legislative tracking, and advocacy services, wanted to provide their subscribers with a more robust and interactive mobile app.
The joint team created iOS and Android mobile products that augment and complement critical information services for paid subscribers. The product focuses on the particular needs of professionals whose livelihoods are focused on policy and legislation. It delivers up-to-date feeds of political news and a comprehensive overview of events scheduled on the House and Senate floors, and in committees and subcommittees. The app also provides the ability to follow and unfollow bills, issues, and people, and create alerts to track bill status changes. The Mission Data app development team leveraged its extensive experience in working with APIs and worked with the CQ API development team to help guide the construction of a completely new API that would be first used by the mobile apps.
CQ Mobile launched on iTunes in August 2015 and over 1,100 paid subscribers have downloaded the app. CQ Mobile launched on the Google Play Store in February 2016 with nearly 1,000 installs.
