Maintain | Evolve
This stage reflects the reality that Web solutions and associated applications continue to evolve after they are implemented.
The first aspect of this stage addresses immediate post-launch needs. Upon launch nearly all solutions have a list of outstanding fixes and minor enhancements that are required to "officially" complete each phase. Mission Data tracks these outstanding items during the Implement stage and enters them into a ticketing system to ensure that all agreed to items are completed in a timely manner. The Mission Data design and development team continue to be involved to complete work on the open items within the first 30 days after launch. During this time Mission Data also supports any unanticipated flaws that are uncovered post-release.
If Mission Data is asked to take on the hosting, maintenance and support of the application via its Managed Services (insert link here), this stage involves setting up of the monitoring and backup infrastructure in our hosting environment for the web solution as well as any required maintenance scripts. Mission Data also maintains a development and testing environment to enable rapid response to requests for problem diagnostics and enhancement development. Requests for support can be submitted via email or phone.
The maintenance and evolution of the solution also may include ongoing support with respect to search engine optimization (SEO). As optimization requires a steadfast focus on the content and structure as measured against key search indexes, this stage includes a monthly SEO review with resultant content and design updates. Like hosting, the SEO aspect of this stage is only performed if Mission Data is retained to provide such services.
A final potential set of activities associated with this stage are in providing ongoing analytical support on the effectiveness of the implemented Web or social networking solution. If the engagement with Mission Data includes one of its tailored Web and social solution analysis programs, Mission Data will, on a scheduled basis, review the data and reports from the specialized analytical tools applied during the Implement stage (e.g., Google Analytics for Web, Kontagent for social) and provide guidance on how the design, content, and functionality can be updated to promote the optimal visitor or user experience. Or, for social applications on how to improve how "viral" and effective their social networking solutions and strategies are performing.
